2) Processing of applications for new domain names

The process of registering a domain name is started by NIC Monaco upon receipt of an application form. If the file is incomplete (See: Lack of supporting documents required), unsigned, or does not conform to the naming policy, a notice of deficiency is sent to the applicant.

Any illegible application is rejected. Therefore NIC MONACO recommends to type the information onto the form.

In addition to the formal examination, verification of the configuration of DNS is operated by the NIC MONACO using ZoneCheck software .If you fail this test, an application for regularization shall be forwarded to registrar.

The process of registration and activation of a domain name typically takes 5-10 business days, if no irregularity is found by Direction of Electronic Communications

The last step in the creation of domain names is to inform applicants and registrars.

3) Documents to be enclosed to the application

Form must be sent together with additional documents, according to the type of application :

1. In the case of a company or an organization, the application must imperatively contain an extract from the Register of Trade and Industry less than 3 months old. The requested domain name must conform to the company's name or logos mentioned in the extract. These names are registered under " .mc ".
   
   
2. In the case of a registered trademark, the application must imperatively contain a certificate of identity of registration or copy of the official title delivered by the Intellectual Property Division of the " Direction de l’Expansion Economique ". Concerning international trademark designating Monaco, a certificate of registration of the World Intellectual Property Organization must be enclosed to the application. These names will be registered under " .tm.mc ".
   
   
3. In the case of an association, the application must imperatively contain a copy of the publication in the Journal de Monaco, a receipt of the statement or the ministerial decree authorizing it. These names will be registered under " .asso.mc ".

Applications for the modification of a domain name of the ".mc " zone must be done using standard forms and sent to the "Direction des Communications Electroniques - NIC MONACO", duly filled out and signed.

There are several scenarios:

• For a transfer of a domain name
  
  This is a change of registrar. A transfer does not involve a change in ownership of a domain name and does not necessarily mean a change of DNS.
  
  If there are no irregularities, processing this application generally takes 5-10 business days following receipt of the form. The owner is reminded that he must inform his old registrar in writing of this operation.
  
  The form to use is:

• For a transmission of a domaine name
  
  This means the transfer of the domain name to a new owner.
  
  CAUTION: To approve this transfer, the new owner must comply with the requirements of Naming Policy and the two owners (Cf: the old and new) must jointly sign the form.
  
  If there are no irregularities, processing this application generally takes 5-10 business days following receipt of the form.
  
  The form to use is:

• For changing name servers AND/OR IP addresses
  
  These mean that the nameserver AND/OR IP addresses associated with them must be modified in the registry area of naming ".mc".
  
  If there are no irregularities, processing this application generally takes 5-10 business days following receipt of the form.
  
  The form to use is:

• For a modification of administrative informations
  
  This is to inform the NIC Monaco on a modification of administrative data of the applicant or hosting provider or registrar or the administrative contact or technical contact.
